I can get no satisfaction

There is a selected collection of my printed fabric. 

I haven't counted the number of my development samples during I was printing, because I've been in a rush for a few days before the deadline and I was afraid of realising that I got only few development samples. Finally, I found out that I produced 22 development samples for bloom project.

Printing is more difficult than the other disciplines in terms of technique, colour and accuracy. It requires you to choose relevant fabric, technique, dye and so on. If you choose wrong, obviously something wrong will come out.

Print workshop

Technical workshop has started this week. I was afraid of screen printing, because I struggled with it last year. The first few technical samples (pigment printing) were okay because the mixture is quite thick. On the other hand, gummy mixture for procion dye is runnier compared to pigment, so it's difficult to print and I was almost reminded the last year's nightmare.

Although print workshop is hard for me in a way, I do enjoy printing. There are so many interesting equipment and  materials there, and all of them excite me. Especially heat transfer printing is my favorite .. it is able to transfer the texture quite precisely. Because it mirrors, I thought I need to beware of it when I want to design asymmetry shapes.

After the tutorial on Monday, I realised how long I've ignored drawing and concentrated to technical sampling instead. Working on both sides (designing & sampling) is a still big problem for me.

This week was busier than normal, so I faced to my bad time managing skill. Tuesday and Wednesday (when I usually spend on catching up studio work), has needed to be used for essay writing and the fashion show, so my studio work has been standstill. Despite it, fashion show helping was definitely good experience as I could watch dresses very close. Fashion show itself was stunning too—now I'm excited to the next year, and a discipline I want to get in is clear in my mind.

In this break, I had a small exhibition with friends.

I thought it is difficult to tell why I made the cape, although it is so easy to explain how I've made it. 

Not so many people came, but I'm satisfied with the exhibition and being motivated to the next.

I just want to make someone happy with my textiles as I like my friends' ones.

The one thing that I wonder is...my preference is sometimes quite far from the majority :(

ahhhhh, design is fun but difficult too. 

GSA fashion show

The longer I stay here, the more I like the GSA.

1st year F&T students were working for GSA fashion show held at WGS3 meanwhile we had our own exhibition. It was absolutely great experience to work as dressers. We could see garments closer and could see their designers too. Behind the fashion show was busy, but no one was nervous nor irritated.

After finish working, I saw the fashion show. I've only seen a couple of fashion shows before, but I felt that the fashion show was great, successful one. I really admire our senior students. I can't believe that they're students, and wonder if I can be like them 1 or 2 year after. Need to study harder!
